ASFF - Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2013

On Friday 8th November 2013 we went to York for a day for the Aesthetica Short Film Festival. We had been the previous year also, so we knew what to expect. However this year, to fit in with the A2 coursework task, we went to see a masterclass by Craig McNeil, who is the Director of TV and Film at Beggars Group. Beggars Group is the largest indie record company in the UK. Beggars Group also own several other labels including 4ADRough Trade RecordsMatador Records, and XL Recordings

Craig McNeil talked about a lot of different aspects of music videos, from budgets to influential music videos to the history of music videos. He also showed lots of clips of significant music videos, as well as some clips of music videos for the artists who worked/are currently working with the Beggars Group. He also went on to talk about different ways you can promote a music video, and how YouTube has changed the way videos are viewed and received with an audience. This was very helpful as YouTube will be our primary way of distributing our video.
