RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VISUALS + LYRICS
shot of whole band
There isn't a direct connection between the lyrics and the visuals. There are mainly shots of the band and the lead singer Liam Gallagher looking down into the camera, and this could create a connection with the audience as some of the songs main lyrics are "maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me"

GENRE CHARACTERISTICS
The genre of this song is britpop, and this music video contains some genre stereotypes. Typically britpop songs were mainly about the music so there was usually no narrative, only the band playing instruments and singing.

INTERTEXTUALITY
The song's title was appropriated from Wonderwall, a 1968 film. The film is about a man who becomes obsessed with a girl. The meaning of wonderwall is that person that you are constantly thinking of, someone who your are completely fascinated with, and the songs lyrics 'you're my wonderwall' enforce this idea.

PERFORMANCE STYLE
kaleidoscope effect
layering

Because this music video has no real narrative, it is mainly built up of performance footage and lip-syncing. However, there are effects which have been used to make the shots of the band and the lead singer less boring, such as a kaleidoscope effect and layering.

There is also use of duplicating single shots throughout the whole video, particularly in the chorus.

LOOKING/MODE OF ADDRESS:
the lead singer looking through
a mirror

Most of the shots are of the lead singer looking directly into the camera and lip-syncing. However, there is one shot where he is looking through a mirror into the camera
